Mercantile Marine (Avoidance of Flags of Convenience) Bill 2005
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Bill would restrict the re-registration of Irish ships that regularly sail between Irish and EU ports unless the new registration is in an EU country and the owner has the required EU connection. It would require a real connection between a ship and its flag state, and create criminal penalties—including fines and imprisonment—for breaches.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to make further and better provision in relation to the re-registration of mercantile shipping and to make provision in relation to connected matters
