The Coroners (Amendment) Bill 2005 would remove the limit of two medical witnesses at an inquest and strengthen coroners’ powers to summon witnesses, require documents and answers, and administer oaths. It would introduce tougher penalties for non-compliance, including fines or imprisonment, while allowing the High Court to order people to cooperate.
