European Communities (Amendment) Bill 2006

The measure would amend the European Communities Act 1972 so that the parts of the 2005 treaty admitting Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union that concern the European Communities would become part of Irish law once Ireland ratified the treaty. It would also update the Act’s list of relevant EU treaties. The change would involve no cost or additional staff for the State.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the European Communities Act 1972, so as to provide that certain provisions of the Treaty concerning the accession of the Republic of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union shall be part of the domestic law of the State.
