Institutes of Technology Bill 2006

The Institutes of Technology Bill 2006 would bring Ireland’s institutes of technology and Dublin Institute of Technology under the national Higher Education Authority, giving them a more unified strategic and funding framework while reducing direct ministerial control. It would give colleges greater responsibility for staffing, budgets, courses, academic freedom and partnerships, while strengthening accountability for directors and governing bodies, including duties on equality, access and social and economic development.
