Creates gender-neutral offences for engaging or attempting to engage in sexual acts with children under 15 and under 17, following a Supreme Court ruling. It allows an honest-belief defence about the child’s age, increases penalties when someone in authority is involved, protects girls under 17 from prosecution solely for intercourse, and requires convicted offenders to register with Gardaí.
