Hepatitis C Compensation Tribunal (Amendment) Bill 2006

Creates a State-funded insurance scheme for people diagnosed with hepatitis C or HIV who are refused life, mortgage-protection or other specified insurance, or charged more because of their diagnosis. It also expands certain compensation claims, sets clearer rules for proving hepatitis C, provides appeals against scheme decisions, protects applicants’ confidentiality and updates eligibility for free health services.
