Europol (Amendment) Bill 2006

The Europol (Amendment) Bill 2006 would bring three updates to the Europol Convention into Irish law. They would extend Europol’s role in tackling money laundering, clarify its staff’s involvement in joint investigation teams and legal protections, and improve how it shares, analyses and processes information. Irish data-protection rules would continue to apply to personal information handled by Europol.

Bill entitled an Act to give the force of law to the Protocols of 30 November 2000, 28 November 2002 and 27 November 2003 to the Convention of 26 July 1995 on the establishment of a European Police Office, to amend for that purpose the Europol Act 1997 and to provide for related matters
