Social Welfare Law Reform and Pensions Bill 2006

Raises Child Benefit, the Respite Care Grant and the One-Parent Family Payment earnings limit; extends Carer’s Benefit and leave; introduces a standard means-tested State Pension (Non-Contributory) for people over 66; and makes other welfare improvements. It also updates occupational-pension rules, strengthens oversight, and makes related changes to tax, information access and public bodies.
