Enforcement of Court Orders Bill 2007

The Enforcement of Court Orders Bill 2007 would let courts allow unpaid fines and other court-ordered debts to be paid in instalments, or collected directly from wages or social welfare payments. It would protect a minimum level of welfare income and wages, and aim to reduce imprisonment for people unable to pay while improving recovery of money owed and freeing prison space.

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the making of attachment of earnings orders, attachment of welfare orders and instalment orders by the courts to facilitate the enforcement of undischarged court orders, fines and other debts and to provide for related matters
