Ethics in Public Office (Amendment) Bill 2007
Public bill · Government · Presented
Ministers, senior office-holders and members of the Oireachtas could not accept more than €2,000 in benefits from a friend for personal reasons in a year without approval from the Standards in Public Office Commission; unapproved benefits would have to be returned or paid for. Annual declarations would confirm compliance, and “nil” declarations would go directly to the Commission. The thresholds for declaring interests and for treating official gifts as gifts to the State would also rise, as set out in the table on page 3.
