Copyright and Related Rights (Amendment) Bill 2007

The Copyright and Related Rights (Amendment) Bill 2007 would create a publicly funded scheme to pay authors and performers when their books and recordings are lent through public libraries, replacing exemptions that currently allow lending without payment. An Chomhairle Leabharlanna would administer the scheme, with estimated annual costs of about €1.1 million plus an initial setup cost of €600,000.
