Spent Convictions Bill 2007

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The Spent Convictions Bill 2007 would allow certain minor convictions to become “spent” after five years for non-custodial sentences or seven years for sentences of up to six months, provided there are no further convictions. People could generally withhold spent convictions, except when applying for specified jobs—such as childcare, healthcare, policing, legal, financial or public-service roles—and in certain court proceedings.

Formal long title
