The Social Welfare Act 2007 increases weekly rates for many social welfare payments, including pensions, jobseeker’s, illness, disability and carer’s payments, with the changes taking effect between December 2007 and January 2008. It raises the income limits for the Family Income Supplement, increases employment and optional-insurance contribution thresholds, doubles the widowed parent grant from €4,000 to €6,000, and changes health-contribution thresholds and amounts.
