Courts and Court Officers (Amendment) Bill 2007
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Courts and Court Officers (Amendment) Bill 2007 would allow more judges to be appointed: increasing the maximum numbers from 31 to 35 in the High Court, from 33 to 37 in the Circuit Court, and from 54 to 60 in the District Court. It matters because additional judges could help courts deal with their workload and reduce delays, while also increasing public spending on judicial salaries.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Courts and Court Officers Act 1995 to provide for an increase in the number of judges of the High Court, the Circuit Court and the District Court; to amend the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961; and to provide for related matters
