Electricity Regulation (Amendment) (EirGrid) Bill 2008
Public bill · Government · Presented
Allowed EirGrid, subject to regulatory approval, to build, own, operate and maintain electricity interconnectors and transport electricity through them. It brought EirGrid-owned interconnectors within the transmission system, created controls over subsidiaries and asset sales, and made unlicensed electricity transport an offence. It also increased EirGrid’s borrowing limit to €750 million, while requiring ministerial approval for borrowing and capital spending.
