Dublin Transport Authority Bill 2008

The Dublin Transport Authority Bill 2008 would establish a single body to plan and coordinate transport across Dublin and the surrounding counties. It would oversee long-term transport investment, public transport services, fares, integrated ticketing and travel information, while directing traffic management and promoting public transport, walking and cycling. Planning decisions would have to take account of the Authority’s transport strategy, helping align new development with transport capacity; the existing Dublin Transportation Office would be dissolved, with its work, property and staff transferred to the new Authority.

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the establishment of a body to be known in the English language as the Dublin Transport Authority or in the Irish language as @IT@Údarás Iompair Bhaile Átha Cliath@IT@, to define its functions and for that purpose to amend the Planning and Development Act 2000, the Transport (Railway Infrastructure) Act 2001, the Dublin Docklands Development Authority Act 1997, the Grangegorman Development Agency Act 2005 and the Transport (Re-Organisation of Córas Iompair Éireann) Act 1986, to provide for the dissolution of the Dublin Transportation Office and to provide for related matters
