Social Welfare and Pensions Bill 2008
Public bill · Government · Presented
Raises child benefit, the early childcare supplement, the respite care grant and some illness and pension payments, while increasing the earnings limit for lone-parent support. It creates new allowances for blind people and for parents caring at home for children with severe disabilities, with protections for people moving from earlier schemes. Pension administration is also tightened: major schemes must use registered administrators and provide trustee training, with greater oversight and information powers for the Pensions Board.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Social Welfare Acts and the Pensions Act 1990 and to make related amendments of the Family Law Act 1995 and the Family Law (Divorce) Act 1996
