Ombudsman (Amendment) Bill 2008
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Ombudsman (Amendment) Bill 2008 would greatly expand the range of public bodies whose decisions people could complain about, including newer agencies and bodies affecting large numbers of people. It would require covered bodies to deal with people fairly, promptly and helpfully, and give the Ombudsman stronger powers to obtain information, take legal action when information is withheld, refer legal questions to the High Court and make recommendations applying across several bodies. It would also improve transparency, update related laws and protect the title “Ombudsman”.
