Data Protection (Disclosure) (Amendment) Bill 2008

The Bill would require organisations holding personal data to report suspected security breaches to the Data Protection Commissioner within seven days. Breaches involving sensitive information would have to be reported to affected individuals, while the Commissioner could require notification where personal data about more than 100 people was at risk; it would take effect one month after enactment.
