National Cultural Institutions (Amendment) Bill 2008
Public bill · Private Member · Presented
The National Cultural Institutions (Amendment) Bill 2008 would give the National Cultural Institutions Board responsibility for Ireland’s heraldry: maintaining a free public register of coats of arms, confirming or granting arms, recording historic grants, and registering flags and emblems. It would allow certain grants to be cancelled, require public notice and an opportunity for objections before new grants, and give recipients copyright in their arms. It would also formally confirm historic heraldic records and the Genealogical Office’s role.
