Broadband Infrastructure Bill 2008
Public bill · Private Member · Presented
The Broadband Infrastructure Bill 2008 would set nationwide targets for broadband quality, coverage, affordability and take-up, and establish a National Broadband Network linking existing infrastructure while allowing competing service providers to use it. It would create a Broadband Commission, require the Minister to report to an Oireachtas committee if targets were missed, and introduce new rules and a more expert-based process for choosing the network’s board, helping Ireland prepare for faster next-generation internet services.
