Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2009

The measure would abolish five health bodies and transfer their staff, records, property, contracts and responsibilities to either the Department of Health and Children or the Health Service Executive. It would also move responsibility for health-sector pensions to the Health Minister, remove age limits on travel-insurance benefits for people infected with hepatitis C or HIV through contaminated blood products, and make technical changes to health legislation, including the membership of the National Cancer Registry Board.

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the dissolution of the National Council on Ageing and Older People, the Women's Health Council, the National Cancer Screening Service Board, the Drug Treatment Centre Board and the Crisis Pregnancy Agency, to provide for the exercise of certain functions relating to superannuation by the Minister for Health and Children, to provide for the amendment of the Health Act 1970, the Hepatitis C Compensation Tribunal Act 1997, the Mental Health Act 2001, the Health Act 2007 and the National Cancer Registry Board (Establishment) Order 1991 and to provide for related matters
