Ministers and Secretaries (Ministers of State) Bill 2009
Public bill · Private Member · Presented
The Bill would reduce the maximum number of Ministers of State the Government could appoint from 20 to 12. These junior ministers would still have to be members of either House of the Oireachtas, and could be appointed or removed on the Taoiseach’s nomination or recommendation; the Bill would repeal the 2007 law that increased the limit to 20.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to provide for a decrease in the number of Ministers of State from 20 to 12 who may be appointed by the Government under section 1(1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1977
