Local Government (Planning and Development)(Amendment) Bill 2009

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would give the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government power to add buildings of special historical interest to the register of protected structures. It specifically requires 15, 16 and 17 Moore Street to be added immediately, because of their connection with the 1916 Rising and the risk of planned development. Protection would help preserve these buildings and could restrict changes or demolition. The Minister would also have to publish a list of any structures added.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act 1999 to give the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the power to add to the record of protected structures, with specific regard to the need to preserve 15, 16 and 17 Moore Street in the light of their importance as a site connected to the 1916 Rising
