Statute Law Revision Bill 2009
Public bill · Government · Presented
Cleans up Ireland’s statute book by repealing hundreds of obsolete private, local and personal Acts dating from 1534 to 1850, including laws dealing with individual estates, old companies, roads, harbours and railways. It keeps a limited list of older Acts that still matter, protects existing legal rights and arrangements, and gives many retained Acts clearer short titles. The aim is to remove dead or unnecessary laws without changing current legal principles, continuing arrangements or existing organisations.
