Sets salaries for Dáil and Seanad members, with higher rates for existing members with seven or ten years’ service but a standard rate for future members. It allows several expenses to be combined into a tax-free monthly allowance, and reduces or suspends ministerial and other office pensions while recipients remain parliamentarians or Members of the European Parliament.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) Act 1938 and the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Acts 1938 to 2001, to make further provision for salaries payable to members of either House of the Oireachtas and for the remuneration, allowances and pensions payable to former holders of ministerial and other offices who are members of either such House or members of the European Parliament, and to provide for related matters.
