Courts and Court Officers Bill 2009

Public bill · Government · Presented

The Courts and Court Officers Bill 2009 would create a formal system for temporarily holding prisoners and others near court buildings so they can attend hearings, while setting rules for their safety, searches, medication and supervision. It would allow the Courts Service to combine administrative offices serving different courts, share staff and managers, and move court-office work without disrupting cases. It would also let District Court clerks, prison governors and certain prison officers handle some bail-related undertakings, making court administration more flexible.
