Anglo Irish Bank Corporation (No. 2) Bill 2009

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The proposal would allow the Minister for Finance to apply directly to the High Court to appoint inspectors to investigate Anglo Irish Bank’s affairs. The investigation could examine possible fraud, unlawful conduct, misconduct by managers, unfair treatment of members, or whether shareholders were given enough information. The Minister would have to apply if both Houses of the Oireachtas required it, unless the Director of Corporate Enforcement had already applied. It matters because it was intended to provide an independent examination of the bank’s conduct and management during the financial crisis.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the appointment of an inspector into the affairs of Anglo Irish Bank Corporation limited; and to provide for connected matters
