The Appropriation Act 2009 authorises up to €47.87 billion in government spending for 2009, including funding for public services, departments, social protection, education and health, with up to €5.98 billion in related income. It carries €125.7 million of certain capital spending into 2010 and allows tax changes agreed by the Dáil in December 2009 to be put into law during 2010.

Bill entitled an Act to appropriate to the proper supply services and purposes sums granted by the Central Fund (Permanent Provisions) Act 1965, to make provision in relation to deferred surrender to the central fund of certain undischarged appropriations by reference to the capital supply services and purposes as provided for by section 91 of the Finance Act 2004 and to make provision in relation to the Finance Resolutions passed by Dáil Éireann on 9 December 2009
