The measure would reduce Jobseeker’s Allowance or Supplementary Welfare Allowance for people who refuse suitable training, employment programmes or suitable work, with larger reductions for older claimants. From April 2011, One-Parent Family Payment would generally end when the youngest child turns 13, with transitional arrangements for existing recipients. It would also make various changes to social welfare rules, including appeals, child residence for payments, means assessments, illness and disability payments, and publication of details of people convicted of welfare offences.
