Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill 2010
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill 2010 would reduce from seven years to two the time the Criminal Assets Bureau must wait before asking the High Court to permanently dispose of or forfeit assets frozen because they are suspected to come from crime. It would also make a related change to the rules for applications made with the agreement of the person affected. The change is intended to help the Bureau act more quickly against the profits of crime, particularly drug crime, and could provide a once-off boost of up to about €20 million to the State.
Formal long title
