Sunbeds Regulation (No. 2) Bill 2010

The Sunbeds Regulation (No. 2) Bill 2010 would ban businesses from offering or allowing sunbed use by anyone under 18, except where medically supervised by a registered doctor. It would allow the Minister to set further rules on advertising, supervision, health warnings and information, and the provision and use of protective eyewear. Health Service Executive officers could inspect businesses, examine records and equipment, and seize items where necessary. Breaches could lead to a fine of up to €5,000, up to six months’ imprisonment, or both; the proposed rules would take effect six months after the Act was passed.
