George Mitchell Scholarship Fund (Amendment) Bill 2010
Public bill · Government · Presented
The measure would allow the Government to contribute up to €20 million to the George Mitchell Scholarship Fund, provided the US-Ireland Alliance raises at least the same amount from non-public sources. Payments would be limited to €4 million a year, with the fund manager required to keep separate accounts, arrange annual audits and reports, and send them to the Minister for presentation to both Houses of the Oireachtas. It would strengthen funding for postgraduate scholarships in Ireland and Northern Ireland while improving financial oversight.
