Health and Social Care Professionals (Amendment) Bill 2010

The proposal would bring psychotherapists and counsellors into Ireland’s system for regulating health and social care professionals. It would create a registration board for the professions, helping set requirements for using the professional title and providing a process for dealing with complaints about practitioners’ fitness to work. The system would be funded through registration fees paid by the professionals, and would begin within six months of the legislation being passed.
