Climate Change Response Bill 2010

The Climate Change Response Bill 2010 would set national emissions-reduction targets—2.5% a year to 2020, 40% by 2030 and 80% by 2050—and require regular national and sectoral plans covering both emissions cuts and adaptation. It would also create an expert advisory body and require public bodies to consider climate goals in their work.

Bill entitled an Act to make provision for the adoption of a national policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the State; to provide for the making of plans by the Government to enable the State to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the effects of climate change; to make provision for the setting, and achievement, of national emissions reduction targets to further transition to a low carbon, climate resilient and environmentally sustainable economy; and to provide for matters connected therewith
