Road Traffic Bill 2011

Public bill · Government · Presented

The Road Traffic Bill 2011 would allow Gardaí to require drivers involved in suspected drink-driving incidents or collisions—especially those causing injury—to take a breath test, or provide a blood or urine sample in hospital. Testing could not proceed if it would harm the person’s health, and the measure aimed to take effect before wider alcohol-testing provisions due in September 2011.

Formal long title

Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Road Traffic Acts 1961 to 2010 and to provide for related matters
