Veterinary Practice (Amendment) Bill 2011
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Bill would allow the Agriculture Minister to specify animal-related activities that farmers and other suitably skilled people could carry out without those activities being reserved to vets or veterinary nurses, potentially subject to conditions. It would also strengthen professional regulation by enabling mandatory indemnity insurance, expanding recognition of veterinary nurses trained outside the EU or working in training, widening disciplinary powers and investigations, and updating EU qualification and cross-border practice rules.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to enable persons other than veterinary practitioners and veterinary nurses to carry out certain procedures on or in relation to animals, for those and other purposes to amend the Veterinary Practice Act 2005, and to provide for related matters
