Electoral Commission Bill 2012

The proposal would create one independent Electoral Commission to take over election-related work currently divided among several bodies, including voter registration, political-party registration, referendum information, electoral boundaries and election standards. It would also create a national voter register using PPS numbers to reduce errors, duplication and fraud, and ask the commission to research improvements, including voting arrangements for people temporarily abroad.
