Thirty-second Amendment of the Constitution (Dáil Éireann) Bill 2012
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would amend the Constitution to set the number of Dáil members at 101, including the Dáil Chair. It would require constituencies to have roughly equal populations, based on the most recent census, and would limit each constituency to electing one TD, except for the constituency of the outgoing Chair. This would replace Ireland’s multi-member constituencies with single-member constituencies, significantly changing how Dáil elections and representation work.
