Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (Reviews of Commercial Rents) Bill 2012

The proposal would let the Government temporarily stop “upward-only” rent reviews from pushing commercial rents above the current market rate, where economic conditions make existing rents unfairly burdensome. Orders could apply to specified premises or areas for up to 24 months, with either landlord or tenant able to seek an immediate rent review.
