Responsibility for buying Ireland’s national supply of clotting factor concentrates and other biological medicines, including recombinant protein treatments, would move from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service to St James’s Hospital. These medicines are used to treat haemophilia and other inherited or acquired disorders affecting blood clotting.
