Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2012
Public bill · Government · Presented
The Bill would make it easier to create, merge, reorganise or abolish bodies providing services to the Minister for the Environment or local authorities, with aims such as improving efficiency, sharing services and reducing the number of State bodies. It would allow assets, contracts, staff, pensions, debts and ongoing work to be transferred during these changes, and would dissolve bodies listed in the Bill, mostly by merging them into other organisations. It would also dissolve An Chomhairle Leabharlanna and provide for its functions, staff and assets to be transferred elsewhere.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the Local Government Services (Corporate Bodies) Act 1971; to dissolve certain bodies established pursuant to that Act; to revoke certain Orders made pursuant to that Act; to dissolve An Chomhairle Leabharlanna; and to provide for related matters
