Health (Professional Home Care) Bill 2012

Professional home care services would be brought under a formal regulatory system, covering nursing, home help, personal care, therapies and palliative care that help adults live independently at home. Providers would have to meet standards set by the Health Information and Equality Authority and be placed on a register overseen by the Chief Inspector of Social Services, with the Minister able to make detailed rules. The changes would take effect six months after the Act was passed.
