Houses of the Oireachtas Commission (Amendment) Bill 2012
Public bill · Government · Presented
The measure would make the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission responsible for translating secondary legislation, such as regulations and orders, when Ministers request it, while allowing departments or public bodies to use other translators and charging for the service. It would also require the Commission to publish and review the official Irish-language standard at least every seven years, consulting Government, experts and the public. This would centralise responsibility for translating legislation and keep the official written form of Irish up to date.
Formal long title
