Environment and Public Health (Wind Turbines) Bill 2012

Public bill · Private Member · Introduced

The Environment and Public Health (Wind Turbines) Bill 2012 would require wind turbines to meet stricter World Health Organization noise limits, prevent shadow flicker over homes, and stand at least 500 metres to 2 kilometres from dwellings depending on their height. Developers would have to provide nearby residents with clear environmental information, hold a public meeting and report the outcome to planning authorities. Existing turbines would have one year to meet the noise and shadow-flicker rules, with compliance monitored by planning authorities and relevant Ministers.
