The measure changes several social welfare payments from 2014, including longer waits for illness and injury payments, a standard €230 weekly rate for new maternity and adoptive benefit claims, the end of the Bereavement Grant, and lower jobseeker and supplementary welfare rates for some people under 26 without children. It also extends social insurance contributions to certain under-66 workers and occupational pensioners with unearned income, ends new applications for mortgage interest support, and reduces some invalidity pensions at 65. Compensation insurers would repay certain illness-related welfare payments after personal injury claims, while pension rules would be updated for surviving civil partners and the State Pension age change.
