Environment and Public Health (Wind Turbines) Bill 2013
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would require wind turbines to meet stricter World Health Organization noise limits, including limits for low-frequency and fluctuating noise, and prevent shadow flicker from reaching homes. It would set minimum distances from homes based on turbine height—500 metres to 2 kilometres—and require existing turbines to comply within one year. Developers would have to provide local residents with environmental information, hold a public meeting, and report the outcome to planning authorities, which would monitor compliance.
