Protection of Life in Pregnancy (Amendment) (Fatal Foetal Abnormalities)(No. 2) Bill 2013
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The proposal would allow a pregnancy to be ended where the foetus has a condition making survival outside the womb impossible. It would require certification by two doctors—an obstetrician and a perinatologist—after examining the woman, with the procedure carried out by an obstetrician in an approved institution.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to permit medical treatment leading to termination of pregnancy in situations where the foetus has a fatal abnormality such that it is incompatible with life outside of the womb.
