Valuation (Amendment) Bill 2013
Public bill · Private Member · Introduced
The Valuation (Amendment) Bill 2013 would change how rates are assessed on customer parking spaces at shops and retail centres, whether parking is free or charged. Their value would be based on the higher of the local authority’s parking charges or the charges shoppers pay, with all affected properties to be assessed within 12 months of the law taking effect. This could increase rates paid by retail property owners and alter the funding available to local authorities.
Formal long title
Bill entitled an Act to amend the provisions of the Valuation Act 2001, to provide for the treatment of rates for parking spaces in retail centres, in the interests of the common good, and to provide for related matters
