Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) Bill 2013

Would replace the outdated ship-registration laws with a central, electronic Irish Register of Ships, covering registration, renewal, ownership, mortgages, measurement and certificates. It would broaden registration requirements to include fishing boats, jet skis and certain small craft, allow non-compliant ships to be refused or removed, introduce visitor registration, and strengthen enforcement, penalties and safety rules.
